Individual therapy aims to facilitate change in an individual’s life or help them deal with difficult emotions
Some people seek out therapy when they feel overwhelmed; are experiencing a prolonged sense of sadness or helplessness or feeling ill-equipped to shake off the stress and anxiety associated with everyday life. Other people seek out therapy to deal with specific mental health conditions, such as anxiety, ADHD, or depression. Lastly, some people may simply want to become more self-aware and explore their sense of self on a deeper level.
Dr Stephanie Sieberhagen offers individual therapy specifically for adults. Individual therapy sessions begin with a thorough assessment. This assessment is necessary because every individual is different, and will have different challenges, wants, needs and a different goal for therapy.
After completing this assessment, individual therapy then typically continues with one-on-one sessions designed to help you reconnect with your happiness. She believes the key is found within and does not come from things or experiences, but rather by allowing ourselves to be present in our own lives.
It is important to know that therapy does not indicate a weakness or character flaw- in fact, it signifies great strength to know when to ask for help.
